Yup. Rebuild what you have. Turnpike Cruiser was an uncommon option and if you change it to 4-barrel, the car's provenance is lost.
I found a 68 442 Turnpike Cruiser in a backwoods Vajenya junkyard around 1992, complete down to the special aircleaner. Had I known then what I know now about TC, I might have tried to save that car. As it was I spirited it's original unused redline spare on red steel wheel out for the outrageous sum of $10. It ended up in the trunk of Jim Stohlman's 67 W30.
