Plugged thermal.vacuum switch using edelbrock 650 right manifold vacuum for the distributor advance and plugged the rest of the ports on manifold except pcv valve which i connectwd to.center port on front of edelbrock 1406. Car starts but seems like vacuum leak cannot find its time

Next, did you plug the port at the rear on the base plate of the carb? That is easy to miss.
Timed vacuum port on the drivers side, constant vacuum port on the passenger. Center port in the front is generally used for the PCV and the rear port either gets plugged or can be used for power brakes. There should be a plug in the box with the carb for the rear port if you don't intend to use it.

1st thing is that is a 600 cfm carb.

What intake do you have it on? If it's a performer you need to use one of these to get it to seal properly.

I had chrome valve covers that had the pcv plugged removed and reinstalled stock 455 stock valve covers back on reconnected pcv to front center port the rear port is connected to the brake booster. Also reinstalled the stock old 307 hei distributor instead of the distributor that came with the 455 to rule bad vacuum from either carb or distributor and it started but have noticed the clear inline fuel filter which was on the previous engine 307 use to fill it up good that the 455 fuel pump doesnt so checked disconnected fuel line and crank over and it does have gas but maybe not pressure car finally idle but only if spraying carb cleaner in carb maybe bad fuel pump

My '83 Hurst/Olds has a 461 big block with cast iron exhaust manifolds with Pypes 2 1/2" exhaust. It fits great with a G-Force cross member from Summit.
200-4R still in the car with 7 1/2" rear end. Runs low 13's; 13.30 in the heat. Carb and distributor are from '78 403 out of a Delta Eighty Eight.
Our '87 442 has a '78 403 out of a Delta 88 with Comp Cam kit and Hooker 2 1/2" dual exhaust running with the CCC hooked up and a Quadrajet carb built by Cliff Ruggles. Runs low 14's.
With the correct parts mixing you can make these car run acceptably. Remember to upgrade brakes once you start going faster!

The centrifugal weights and springs in the 307's distributor will likely be different than the ones in your 455's unit, giving you a differnet advance curve. If possible, I'd use a distributor calibrated to settings matching those set to not later than 1967 ones

The original 307 distributor has no advance mechanism - the advance is controlled by the ECU. I ASSUME the OP has installed a new stand-alone distributor.

them headers only fit small block, and hooker doesn't know y
My current project is dropping a 455 into my '87 Supreme, and pretty much everything they said is correct. Unfortunetly I don't have the cash to get started yet...exhaust and rear end build. According to my research the consensus is that the increased deck height on the 455 doesn't allow the air cleaner to clear your hood, so that's one thing you need to take into consideration. Apparently headers/manifolds are a tight squeeze, and the steering shaft gets in the way sometimes. Additionally, the whole rear end needs to be upgraded.
Hooker makes a set of headers specifically designed for this swap, but they cost just shy of $600. If you can find a used set, go for it, otherwise just buy what you want and beat on them until they fit...that's what i'm gonna do anyway
Hopefully I can start working on mine by FALL...
