W30 Verified!!! Still attached to rear seat.
Thanks to all of you who gave me ideas where to look. I did peek under the seat last night with a flashlight, but it was buried in the back. Glad I removed the seat and double checked today!

I see W-30! That is all need, that is awesome! If you ever tear all the interior out you may even find more! I have 3 different pieces of paperwork out of my car and still have not torn into most of it! Mine is only a 55k original mile car so I am hoping to find more!

The more things I removed, the worse I felt, because I just knew this was the real deal. But I wanted to find it so everyone can see it wasn't a fake. I'm probably just going to leave the card where it is and has been since 10/17/69. I have the pics, that's all I need.

Thanks Terry! I didn't even want to touch the thing due to not knowing how fragile it was, but it was kind of bunched up and I wanted to get the full pic. I had to remove one of the metal rings to unravel it. The other is still holding onto it.

To Z or not to Z.....
Congrats. That is where I found the broadcast card on my 1970 W-31.
Anyone else notice that there is NOT a letter Z next to the 930 on the trim code box? Remember that thread......

Do you mean this thread? https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...code-help.html
Seems as if they were thinking the Z was either for export bodies or something to do with the front shoulder belts being deluxe. Either way, there wasn't any final conclusion. Doesn't really matter in my case as there is no Z.

Thanks! I wasn't giving up. I'm unsure on what I'll do with the card. It has been there for so long and I hate to fully detach it. Kinda adds to the coolness of the car with it still hanging on there. I'll have to think about it.
If I pull the sheet from on top of the gas tank, then I'll probably leave the card where it sits. However if I find there is no build sheet then I will maybe take the card out.
Is it true that multiples of the broadcast card can be found?

So how tough is it going to be to remove this gas tank? I need to take the rear exhaust off anyway, there are many holes through it. No wonder it sounded like a tank when I heard him start it up about 15 years ago.

There is no build sheet on top of the gas tank, Lansing built cars did not get build sheets, so there will not be one there, or anywhere. That is your only factory documentation, don't risk it.

Make a duplicate of it and put the duplicate back under the seat.
Make another copy or two for presentation with the car's interesting paperwork. A copy folks can touch and ooh and aah over.
Save the THE original in the fireproof safe. It's that rare and valuable. Crucial to that car's provenance.

Rear exhaust out from mufflers on back. Pics later. Going to be fun doing the twist to get those back on and in place. I was trying to take it easy though and not scratch anything up.
I will heed the words on the fireproof safe and just get some prints of the pics I posted here as proof of where I found it in the car. Thanks to all of you with many years of posts here that have weighed in on this.

Does this currently run and drive? If it has not run in quite a while I would still pull the tank to check for rust and/or other problems in the tank and also check out the sending unit, it mat need replacing. Also flush out the fuel line that runs the length of the chassis and replace all rubber lines. The mat that is above the tank is usually in pretty bad shape, Patton Glade (70Post) has a very nice piece to replace that.

No it doesn't run. No battery in it. I was told it needs a water pump and some smaller things like hoses, along with the seals in the transmission. I did however notice when I had the front only jacked up that it was dripping some antifreeze from the rear of the engine. Not sure what that means, but it was only a drops here or there. I will take a pic of the tank area soon and you can assess. Guess you probably can't tell anything from the outside though.

Glad you found it . I found mine behind the drivers seat back and never found another with the car completely apart.

if you don't want to remove the other metal ring /sheet , maybe remove the complete seat for safe keeping. I will even donate you a solid core to recover and fill the hole.

You likely already know this but..... If the water pump is the original you need to have it rebuilt and not replaced. The original X pump is not something you want to use for a core charge. These cores are $100 and rebuilt original ones run $200 area. If it is missing the X pump there are people here that have them.

Without going back and reading all your postings in this great thread.....
>Have you looked under the carpet yet? (original carpet in car?) - I've found two broadcast cards in a '70 W30 before - one where you found it in the backseat area and another one tucked under the carpet on the D side front section. Pull the door sill plates (BOTH SIDES) and take a look under the carpet along those outer edges.
>Also have found them in the bucket seats....underneath in the springs and/or on the bucket seatBACK after removing the plastic panel that covers the rear of the seat. Had a guy hand me a pair of somewhat ragged out buckets from a '70 Pace Car many years ago. He was going to restore the car and this was when super nice bucket cores were all over the place (he had plenty of super nice ones to recover for this car). I loaded them in the back of my car and then thought "Hmmmm....might as well take a look underneath these". Did so and sure enough...there it was....broadcast card for his '70 Pace Car 442 with the "Y74" designation printed on it.
Went back into his warehouse and held my hand out with the broadcast card towards him and said "You probably want to keep THIS PART of these ragged out seats". He was a happy camper that day.
As you have already figured out by now....DIS-ASSEMBLE this thing VERY CAREFULLY!!
DO NOT let anything hit the trashcan/scrap pile or "Parts For Sale" section without thinking or asking first.
Agree with the others...not likely to find a build sheet on top of the tank but might as well be thorough in your search. "Never say never" is a good thing to remember on these cars (said by many on here).
Chad - THANKS for the good word on the Gas Tank Pad!

Tried to get the tank out last night but the bolts are fused together with the top nuts. Sprayed them down really good before coming inside last night, but I bet that still won't help. So I will probably have to cut them. No gas in there for years so I'm not afraid of making a few sparks.

Seems to match the eBay listing here: Not that eBay is the authority or anything...but the posting is for a 68-69 H/O Dual Gate. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Restored-68-...p2047675.l2557
