1968 442 muffler

this is my first post, I want to buy some new mufflers for my 68 442 I want to have the original stock sound, anyone know of a good brand? thanks

Some? All? 68 442's used resonators in the tailpipes as well. I don't know anyone that makes them commercially. There is a member here named "Karl's Korner" that custom makes them for 68 H/O's.


(If that kind of "original sound" is important to you)

Didn't some early 68s have chambered tailpipe sections a la 65-67 442?

That's what I was referring to above. I must have been thinking of my 76 Honda Civic when I called them resonators...lol

I can't afford gardner right now, any close seconds that anyone knows? also I have two oldsmobile remote mirrors I am trying to install on my 1968 442 stem has wrong slant mirror head hits the window, any thoughts...........thanks

'68 & '69 remote mirrors have the same chrome part. The '69 cables are longer to reach the front of the door to clear the glass. '70 7'1 7'2 mirrors are of course different. Same looking head but different mount.

I got a system sent to me, didn't fit worth beans..

just buy some Walker Universal SoundFX Mufflers 17804 reasonably priced and fit and sound stock..

get some exhuast trumpets and get the rest of the system made at a good muffler shop


you'll be way ahead..
