Screwed up Sunday
My weekend quickly turned to crap yesterday.
Due to the fact that I have the door panel off my 69 442 with the door lock removed in order for a member here to make me a new key I decided to take my other toy out to my Grandson's birthday party which is about 40 miles from where I live.
This started out well, but then turned to crap when I hit an obstruction in a very busy road and busted my transmission oil pan. Needless to say, we didn't get much further. After a 1 1/2 hour wait for a tow truck with my 67 Camaro convertible just barely out of the very, very busy roadway, we have a cop pull up behind us with lights flashing, blocking the entire lane that I was barely off of.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm glad he was protecting my beautiful red convertible from getting hit by one of our stupid drivers here in Tucson, Az.
All's well that ends well.
Finally got back home with no chance off making our Grandsons birthday and $160.00 lighter.
At least no one was hurt

The item I hit was the solid base of a lighted road flare that had been previously hit and knocked into the center of the travel lane. Cops moved the object After I hit it.
Removed the busted tranny pan yesterday and I see no additional damage inside.
I've ordered a new steel pan, filter and gasket. Old busted pan was aluminum.

It was pretty hard . Knocked a hole about 1 to 1 1/2 inches in the leading edge of the aluminum pan. No more aluminum pans for me. Lost all fluid in maybe 100 yards then we pushed the car maybe another 200 yards to get it off the road by 6 inches at most. 2 cops and me could not push it any further and I would not allow the cops to push it with their push bumper.

The little Red car is all fixed now.
New STEEL tranny pan, filter, gasket and 6 qts of tranny fluid and road test all is good.
Now all I need is my new key and door lock returned from Joe and the 442 will be back in service.
