New I guess
I signed up back in may of 2008, am I still a newbie? I don't know if I've ever posted to the Newbie thread to introduce myself, so, here it is.
I am currently restoring a 66 442. Iv'e owned several 442's since 1977.(when I received my Drivers License) My first Olds was a 66 cutlass F-85. I traded it in 1978 for a 67 442. It was the coolest thing to go from my Mom's car to my first actual 442. My second Olds was a 67 442 as well. Both cars were auto's on the column. I converted my second car to a floor shift automatic. My freind had his Dads 68 442 sitting in his meadow and told me to help my self to the console and linkage so I did. My third 442 was 66 and I lost that one due to a divorse.My 4th one was a 65 442 which I totally dismantled and restored,it took Ten years!! . It was my first 4 speed and I loved it. I sold it on e-bay in 2006. Well, after 2 years of Jonesing for another, I bought my 5th 442 and Iv'e already spent way too much money. I don't know when I'll be done with it, but, I hope it won't take ten years like the 65. Iv'e added Tilt column and a dash tack."SideWinder". I'm having a blast, it's great therepy. Hi Todd, I'm just up the road from you in Olympia WA. You are much more tolerant of the rain than I! Although I have a '68 (restored) and a '69 (in progress) 442, my favorite by far is the '66! You are a lucky one. Show us some pictures, and enjoy that great piece of machinery! Randy C.

Thanks everyone, I'll do what I can on the pictures, However, Most of the car is in boxes. The car is not off the frame but I'm working on it. I have purchased a tilt for it and a sidewinder dash tach. I got the car from Massachusetts so, it has some rust. I have already taken care of most of the floors and fenders but still have the doors and trunk to mess with. I plan to do the frame off in the garage, so, any Ideas on how to's as far as raising the body off is greatly appreciated. Bye for now.

Hi John, the motor is rebuilt and sitting on a roll around engine stand in the garage, so, I have not cranked it over yet, I'm sure it will be fine. Hey John, any thoughts on the best way to store the motor? I'm worried about moisture since my garage isn't heated. Iv'e painted it and squirted oil in it. Some one told me to keep the spark plugs out of it too.

I haven't started on the 1965 yet, so the parts are still boxed up and in a corner of the garage. One of these days......
I don't know about storage, if you have everything oiled up inside it seems like that would be enough. I would be inclined to have the plugs in, just to keep it sealed up and clean inside. You might create a thread under "general discussion" to ask what others think would be best for long term storage.
Now that the weather is getting nice I'm trying to plan a strategy for the summer. Last year came and went without me getting much put together, and I'd like to change that this year. John
