69 442 trunk lid template
I have a dilemma with my 442 trunk lid that may not be worth fixing and can't find another one in good shape.
So I am hoping a kind person could make up a template for the 442 numerals and I can convert a cutlass trunk lid to a 442.
This is for a convertible if that makes a difference.

there should be a diagram for these drillings in the assy manual? the holes are unaccessable from the underside. you must use the "push-in" style holders. Using the modern-day double sided tape is also an option. cut the prongs off and stick em in place?

The chassis service manual does not show a thing and the fisher body manual shows the numbers go on the trunk lid but that's it.
I know the lids are different but was not sure if the numbers would be in a different spot too...
I was hoping someone would put the layout on a 8 1/2 x 11 and I could just print it and set it on the trunk lid

The two trunklids (and thus number placement) are the same at the trailing edge, since all 69s used the same back bumper and taillights. The differences are at the leading edge of the trunklid and don't affect the numerals.
Stupid question, but can't you make a template from the old trunklid?

Well, that's good to know...
I would have if I could but its all rusted away from an accident and bondo patch job, I bought another parts car 442 to find that trunk lid was a cutlass lid and the holes don't even work with the numbers

Also Sammy on this forum lives near Blackstock, check with him also. Was on my way to a car show in Norwood a couple years ago and saw your 100 year old merry- go-round. Was closed on that day.

I have a good 69 442 decklid. I can mke you a template and pdf it to you to print out if you still need it. I still think there exist a line drawing for these. Ive seen it for the fender 442 embems. ( with or without bumble bee stripes). Let me know if you still need it.

I can help. I made up my own template file a couple years ago when I had my car painted. I can send you both the files and pics of my car so you can see end results. Whats the easiest way to do this ? - Jeff

I realize this is a fender template and not the Trunklid info you're asking about but I suspect others looking at this thread will be interested to see the image.
I used this pic to decide placement. To me it looks like the 442 is numeral width from the right edge and numeral height from the lip.
