Holy rustbucket Batman!
Who cares about the engine? I want to see the frame. The rust stains on the driveway are a red flag, it may have rust stalagtites and mites under there.
Not a bad deal, somebody will buy it for the VIN and title if it's that trashed, has a lot of good parts. It's a high buck car and anything can be restored, jack up the VIN tag and slide another body and frame under it.

We've already seen enough of that crap going on, and it has only one name: FRAUD.
Sorry, I don't even like joking about it.

I wish you hadn't said that. Besides being illegal and immoral, its just not right. Doing that does *not* save a car, that car is dead. Period. It's not a ship that you transfer a flag from.

Just as in any hobby dealing with valuable items, The big shots that can afford them need to do their home work before they buy, We know a car with complete history would be the safest bet. I saw cars at Barret Jackson that looked very suspicious and were probably frauds but it seems the buyers didn't care as long as the next guy didn't care either. I don't think I ever heard it mentioned during any auctions I witnessed.
If gas hits $5.00 or $10.00 a gallon a 1970 W30 olds will make a great lawn ornament or playground equipment for the kids.

I wasn't but a kid, but according to my dad (when I basically asked the same thing) these things were just used cars. Not overly desireable ones for a bit there during the gas crunch. I have heard about used car lots taking hoods and spoilers off Gsx's and such and replacing sheet metal with basic stuff and than selling muscle cars as base models. My dad told me about the local race track...Some guy was running an LS6 70 SS chevelle on grudge night on a clay track in the early mid 70's. He was running a 69 tempest with a big block and factory 4 spd. My how times have changed.
