SSI Reproduction and SSI looking wheels.

SSI Reproduction and SSI looking wheels.

Steel SSI Repros in diameters 14 through 17. Plenty of vendors have these, Jegs, Coker, Summit, OPGI and they are possibly getting them from Specialty Wheel or Wheel Vintiques
http://www.cokertire.com/wheels/olds...si-rallye.html

Cragar 510 Magnum - Steel hoop with an aluminum center in diameters 14 and 15
http://www.cragarwheel.com/products1...eries510Magnum

Year One and OPGI seem to be selling the identical wheel. It would be interesting to hear if anyone has experience with these. Aluminum in diameter 17
http://www.opgi.com/cutlass/1971/whe...heels/S240877/

American Racing AR500 - Aluminum in diameter 15 and 17
http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/VN500/VN5003

Now, these to me look like what SSI wheels would look like in this day and age. The female members of my household like them the best.
Centerline custom billet in diameters 17, 18 and 20.

If you have your heart set on aftermarket .....

A similar looking wheel to that Centerline above is an ION 625.

Kinda sorta like a SSI/Mag 500 & an old Kelsey Hayes Magstar had a child together.

IMHO it's a very nice looking wheel & reasonably priced.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to most newer aftermarket wheels & tend to prefer stuff that looks more old school.

here's another option that someone posted on one of the Olds sites a while back:

http://www.circleracing.com/94series.htm

I had some custom 18" SSIs made a few years back by a company that's no longer in business. Here are some pics. First two with caps that came with wheels. 3rd and 4th pic show custom SSI Caps added:

Hello - I am just finishing up my rolling chassis and will be running 2 in drop spindles with 12 in wilwood brakes.

Does anyone have pictures of this style of wheel on a 72' Cutlass S with on 17s?

Thanks in advance and please feel free to post more examples...great thread.

Checkout pro-touring.com, they have a wheel section that pretty much covers the gamut on aftermarket wheels..

Circle Racing Wheels is still in business and we make the Olds SSI wheels in 15" through 20" with custom backspacing available with no extra charge. These wheels are American made and assembled in Fresno, Ca. For more information please visit www.circleracing.com and select the Billet Wheel selection at the top or give us a call at 559-251-1127.

Thanks for the reply. Are these your series 93 or 94 wheel? Also do you make custom center caps that will accept the SSI or SSII rocket emblem?

Does Circle sell direct or should we be working with a reseller?

I am interested in a set of 17x8 and 17x9.5 with the Olds center cap.

Thanks,
Michael

Yes you can buy from us direct or through one of our dealers. The nice thing about Summit for the consumer is that you will receive free freight on the order. If you would like to order them direct give us a call at 559-251-1127 ask for Ben or email ben@circleracing.com. We have the centers already to go now so turn around time would be quick once we get the order either from you or Summit. Thank you.

What is the Circle Racing part number for the Olds SS1 center cap for the 94 series rims?

Thanks,

Thanks Steve. And just to be clear these are NOT circleracing wheels on my car. They look nice on their website but since mine were made by a different company that is no longer in business their wheels and caps would be completely different from mine. I notice they don't make an 18x10 (which is what I have on the rear) but they do have 18x9.5 and 18x11.

You might want to look at updating your website, you still show a sale that ended on 5/31...............

Hey guys - just about ready to get mine purchased and found these through Schott wheels. I think they are better looking than the Foose option but I'm still on the fence. Anyone else see something lately that looks like an SSI or II in a 17 or 18 inch wheel?

I'm running 18x8 & 18x9 Bandit U109's from US Mag. I'm working on a retainer to use the Olds SSI center caps. Here's a pic:

Hi Ben,

Did things fall through with Jon on the same wheels I had or did you change your mind? Also did you try the Circle racing wheels mentioned on this thread?

-Joe

BTW - here's a pic of the car in front of Frank's shop from a few weeks ago:

Hey Joe!

I found out that Schott actually cut those for Jon so I'm getting a quote. Still thinking about flying out to see them if you are back in the area? Otherwise I could get back in touch with Frank.

Just got the car painted last week and they are wiring now...once we drop the engine and Trans in we can take good measurements for backspacing so I'll be ready to order in about two or three weeks

Ben

Good looks comes with a pricetag.. Bit too much for my tastes considering theyre just rims. Another sad thing is that nowadays when i come across great looking rims, they usually start from 17" and up.. And i dont like that look too much, i want more tire for the rim.

Retro, Thanks for the compliment. I'm still working on the body, but here's a pic with the body tub back on the frame.

Inline, I wasn't a big fan of the oversized rims at first and I definitely don't care for the 22" rim+1" tire look; but these 18" Bandits are growing on me. I started my wheel search looking at 17" rims but tire selection was not very good. There are many more good tires available in the 18" size. Best part about the Bandit rims is the price, $180 ea. from Summit. That's not too much more than a good set of 15x7 SSIIs with bolt-on caps. Here's the pic:

Sounds good Ben. Probably safer just to reach out to Frank for a MD visit. Next time I go there it will be to drive the 442 back home. Hoping that will be in early May. It's getting close to being done. Then he will ramp up the work on my Cutlass Supreme.
