Back in the '80s, I purchased a use set of 6 chrome SSI rims for my '68. One of them had peeling chrome, so that ended up getting recycled. Of the other 5, 4 of them were all 14 x 6 (although only one of them was compatible w/ factory disk brakes.......didn't bother me as I have drums), so I re-painted the inner and outer portions of the center and mounted up some BFGs and have been using them ever since.


Cleaning out my attic the other day, I stumbled across the one remaining oddball SSI, which is stamped 14 x 5-1/2. The chrome is in good shape, and I had already painted it when I had done the other 4. I suspect I was hanging onto this for use on my spare tire someday. Well, plans change and since this won't fit my eventual disk brake swap, its pretty useless to me. So I started looking around to see what car this originally came on, the only info I could find on this size SSI rim is on Oldsmobility.com which indicates this is a code 841 rim, but they don't say what it was used on.


So here I am, asking the experts if they can provide any info on this rim.
