Hello:
See above posts 7&8, the Model A cloth band is approx 2" wide for frame welt and 1" for around area hood rests on firewall. It is treated w/ an asphalt type material as well.
Thanks, Ron

I found some sheet gasket material that is very close, and probably a bit sturdier than the original body tape. I'll cut it in strips and use that. Cheap and easy. If it's just for squeak reduction, the gasket material should do the same job.
It should also work well for the circular rubber washers on the fender attach bolts.

If you had a '55 - '57 Chevy they make a complete die cut set of anti squeak gaskets. I can't seem to find any material that is similar to the original. 3M sells anti squeak tape that is made from UHMW and is very expensive. I think it is more for interior plastic parts then sheet metal panels. There is another company that sells polyester felt for the same purpose.
My biggest concern is that whatever material I end up with will not absorb water. I am afraid of creating a rust area where panels bolt together. I was debating over undercoating or not. I figured if I decided to undercoat I would do it while it is still dissembled and then the seam areas would be coated with rubber. I was thinking there would then be no need to add the anti squeak gasket?

I used thick black gasket material also, so far no problems. It's doubtful any manufacture would make a pre drilled kit for Oldsmobile only but the tape thing sounds like it would be easy to use... Tedd
