'56 Heater Fan Resistor
My heater fan doesn't work on "high".
The shop manual shows a resistor that may be the culprit, but I can't find it.
Any one know where it is located?
Thanks, Frank

You might also check continuity on the switch's high speed position and the wire going to the resistor(s). My wiring diagram shows the low speed using two resistors in series with the high speed using only one of the two used on low.

Thanks very much Yellowstatue and Ozzie. I just bought a spare switch just in case that's the problem. Finding another resistor might be a challenge. I know it's group 8.852/#3131533.

A little warmer here today so I ventured under the dash to find the resistor when I got home and there it is, in the heater box. Clear view of the terminals. Lots of corrosion on the connections. I'll clean them off next warm day and see what happens. I don't want to risk breaking off a brittle wire in the cold.
Thanks again Ozzie and Yellowstatue.

By the way, Yellowstatue also answered a similar question back in 2010. Thanks.

Here is the thread from 2010 that I referenced above. It may help.

I still need to remove my resistor as you had done and clean the whole thing up and see if that helps, I can't imagine these coils were meant to glow red, get hot perhaps but surely not red, it's a fire hazard and what if a kid ever put their hand in there they'd get seriously burned.
