the "p..." *stamped* into the case will help most, the casting numbers are some help.
no suffix like A.B. or C though...
divide your number sets to get your 1-2-3 ratios
4th is straight thru of course
google for Muncie info
yes an unsupported input shaft will be a bit loose.
Ck the gears and such inside closely

Can you get a better shot of picture #4 ? In the upper left of the photo is the number most of us use.
I can see the P=Muncie
1 ? 1971
D ? April
27= 27th day of the month I think. There should be an "A" or "B" there too. Which would denote M-21 or M-22.

The main case is a mid-60's case. The tail housing is for the larger TH400 style output. The side cover is correct for 70-72. Hard to say what is in it now.Looks like they built it with a few different parts.

The two rings & 26-splines indicate M20. Basicly what you have is a 71-74 style M20,but with a 65-67 main case.It should be a good transmission, just wish the 661 main case was still there. That linkage is not from an Oldsmobile, but will work,if you are going for function. If you are going to use this with a console, you will need a different shifter mechanism.

I haven't forgot about the column. I have a few,and should have them done this weekend.
I can supply you with what you need to get the shifter to come out the console.Either factory,or custom,I can do it.
