Swap Problem from Jetaway to Turbo 400
I have made the swap from my Jetaway in my 67 Olds Cutlass to a Turbo 400 everthing went well in the swap but now I have one problem with out the kickdown pluged in the trans shifts just like it should but with out a passing gear, with the kickdown pluged it the trans shifts very erratic not like it should maybe 1to 3 or not at all . Any ideas to what the problem might be? I was told the linkage would work with out any changes?

That sounds like you have a switch pitch wire connected to the kickdown. The way the kickdown works is a solenoid in the valve body to drop down a gear when it gets an electrical signal from the gas pedal switch. It's either on or off.
What you are describing sounds like it on/off/on/off like what the switch pitch would be trying to do.

There are two wires that work off the old SP assy on the throttle linkage. Make sure your T400 is using the kickdown circuit. On the two post connector at the trans one does absolutely nothing, the other is your kick down!

swap problem from Jeyaway to Tubro 400
How do you know if the trans is a switch pitch trans, this the same trans that was done in the Journey with Olds swap,it came from Jegs. Have had the plug on both ways and it won't work one way and will the other way even if is not working right. What do I have to do to get this trans to work right?

George (TripDeuces) posted some nice pictures of the switch pitch controller not too long ago, showing which terminal was which.
I can't go searching for it right now, but I can find it tonight if nobody else can.

You can buy a switch that hooks up the the carb to supply 12v down to the kickdown and do away with the current one and make it work.

The S/P terminal is the top one on the plug in the TH400 and Jetaway case, bottom one would be the kickdown. I'm unfamiliar with the kickdown mechanism on a 67, is it the throttle assembly on the firewall like a 66 or on the gas pedal switch like a 70?
If you have the switch on the firewall like I have pictured the vertical connector should be the downshift terminal. It's marked #2

Thanks George.
As far as I know, the '66 and '67 are the same - the change came in '68 when they dropped the S/P. I believe I recall pulling a motor out of a '67 and having it snag on the S/P switch as it came out.
