Question '76 5 Speed transmission

Hi, I'm sorry if this has already been discussed here, but I was wondering what transmission was used in the '76 260/5 speed cars. I've been doing some research and so far only found that they exist, power numbers, and gear ratios, but I haven't found what model of transmission they used. Can anybody help my figure this out? Thanks, Wyatt

It's a Borg Warner T-50, possibly the only five speed that's weaker than a T-5. There's a reason why it was only offered behind the V6 and 260 V8.

As Joe said a weak, light weight trans. It also has a weird shift pattern, reverse is where first should be, first is below it. Guys have claimed nearly 30 mpg with 260/5 SPD combos.

The almighty T-50! Do not think about putting power to it! Weak as you can get, but I would still proudly rock one! Especially as hard as it is to get a new car with a manual transmission these days!

I'll gladly relieve anyone of a t50 if they'd like. I'm putting one behind a 215 in a manta and would like one or two spares on hand

Too bad. There was a vendor at Fall Carlisle trying to get rid of a pair of them. He still had them when I left late Saturday. I think he wanted $100 or $150 for the pair.

That would have been great, I missed out on one a few hours from me on craigslist for $100, looked like a very clean unit. I paid $20 for the one I have now

Either way, hope you find a few spares. What oil did these trans run? I like your style, dare to be different.

I had a Muncie 5 speed in a 98 chev s/b step side with a 4.3 v-6.
That sucker was a good-'un. Anyone know what that trans would
have been just out of curiosity? Snappy and got good mileage.

Pretty sure that would be a NV3500, the strongest models came out of Dodge Dakota's rated at 340 ft/lbs. I believe it was only an option with the 3.9, 5.2L or 4.7, the 5.9 is at that torque level.
