700R4 installation
Experts,
I have a 1968 442 with a TH400 (column shift). Would like to install a 700R4 and keep the factory look. Are there any kits? I'm sure I'm not the 1st person to do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Why are you going 700R4, is it the same length as your TH400? It will need a lot of beefing up to last behind any power. The 1-2 drop is noticeable. I have ran both the 4L60E and 2004R behind Olds V8's, I prefer the 2004R, not only for gearing but ease of installation in my short tail 350 cars

The 700R4 would require an adapter to bolt up to your engine. A 200-4R will have the correct bellhousing bolt pattern. Both will need beefing up to live with the torque of that 400 and there are plenty of parts for the 200-4R out there to make it live.
Also with the 200-4R your diveshaft is the correct length, but you'll need a yoke for a tH350 to make it work.
