1969 Toronado W-34

I have a 1969 Toronado W-34 and would like any information that I can get about production numbers and the ones that still exist. Is there a regestry for these cars? How could I get documentation on mine or get written documentation as to the authenticity of my car?

Nobody knows how many. There were 118 68s built and estimated 5000 or so 1970s. 69 production numbers don't exist, but the Toronado Chapter OCA has generally accepted that 10% of 1969 production were W-Toro's.

Basically, if you have the OM transmission with a matching date code and VIN, you have a W34. It's the only positive external identification on a 69. You can't go by the presence of dual exhaust as many 375 horse 69's have had it installed, and you have to pull the engine out and apart to ID the cam.

Contact the Toronado Owner's Association www.toronado.org . See if someone there can steer you to an appraiser familiar with Toronados.

Up front- don't expect the W-Toronado to fund your kid's college or your retirement. Except for the 66, the cars are way under the hot collectible radar, and the 68-9 front end styling is an acquired taste.

The Toronado Owner's Association is a very good source of information. According to them only around 12 1969 W 34's are accounted for and only 5 of those have been documented as being W 34's. I would strongly recommend joining then get information to Bill, he can help you the most. also the first generation Toro's are starting to increase in value mainly the 1968 69 and 70
W 34's because of their rarity. The 1969 W 34's did have the dual exhaust but no dual cut outs on the bumper and as rocketraider said look on the transmission on the driver side bell housing tag for the OM trans code, if the correct code then unbolt the power steering pump and see if the Vin# is the same as the Vin# of the car and the trans tag.




1970 Olds Toronado GT

For over 20 years I asked about the production of 69 W-34 Toronados.
I only seen two in Maine , a gold enginless 69 In NH (that car got crushed).
Last time I checked with Bill Panye, I think ther is less than 20 of these units that the TOA knows about .

Bill APyne has 2 or 3 69 W-34 Toronados.
All I have is, one sivler 375 68 Toronado, two nice 68 W-34s, one not so nice 68 W-34 (selling that on for good reason) and a 69 W-34 455 with its OM code transmission.
