66 toronado- replace fuel filter

Where is the fuel filter located on a 66 toronado? Is it difficult to replace?

The fuel filter is located at the front of the carburetor. It is either a sintered brass filter or a paper filter. It is SUPER easy to replace.

Provided that 42 year old Quadrajet doesn't disintegrate when you try to unscrew the fitting.

Make SURE you use a good line wrench on the fuel line fitting and a stout open end wrench on the carb inlet fitting. To do otherwise is asking for trouble.

May I suggest that once you get this thing changed out and have it back together with no leaks, you leave it alone from here on out. Install a metal-bodied inline filter in the fuel pump rubber suction line and change that every year. You will save yourself incredible headaches by doing that.

If the fitting area does crumble or strip out, you can get self-tapping repair fittings at most auto parts stores. I've used more of those things than I care to admit, but it was that or lose the carb. Last one I had to do was a 1966 Starfire carb, and I was nervous as a long-tail cat in a room full of rocking chairs while I was doing the job.

You might find an Edelbrock QuadraJet that can be adapted to the Toronado if worst case scenario occurs.

Fusick has the steel fuel lines if you need one. They're bad about wringing off if they haven't been disturbed in a while. PB'laster helps here.

Don't lose the spring in there and make note of the front and back of the filter so you don't install the new one backwards.
spray pb blaster on it the day before you try to break the line nut free

Here's a small clipping from the 1966 Oldsmobile Service manual:
