pulleys

Hi Rick
Can you give us a little more information? What is the engine out of and what are you putting it in? Do you already have a pulley on the power steering pump? Does it have one or two grooves? John

Since this is in the Toro section, should we assume the engine is in a Toro? Where did you get the brackets? Toro motors used different accessory brackets than RWD Olds motors. Also, Olds water pumps come in three different lengths and the pulleys MUST match the water pump. Finally, be sure all the spacers are in place between the PS pump bracket and the block.

455 motor don't know what it is out of or yr
Going into what was a Cutlass conv. when we drove it in and driving out a 442
Power steering
I have both pumps(saginaw and one with round resivor and oval neck) and two sets of brackets one pump was bolted to each
No spacers on P/S brackets
Looks like one goes between the brackets and betwwnthe back half of the bracket and the timing cover
Can you tell me the lentghs and dia. of these and are suppost to be more
Two different alt. brackets---
1. goes over the valve cover and ties to the bottom section which attaches to the head bolt and looks like it needs spacers behind it to bolt to the head
2. bolts to the head and intake(top half) and exhaust front hole, P/S bracket and has a long skinny bracket that comes off the front hole on this bracket
Cast A/C brackets--half goes over the vavle cover and half bolts to the head
Have the front and rear brackets for the A-6 compressor
Thanks again Rick

One (about 3/4" thick) goes between the bottom rear bracket and the side of the block. The other is tubular and goes over the bottom of the two studs on the front cover.

Get a factory service manual. It will show the correct type and orientation of the brackets. Note that the alternator brackets come in two flavors, A/C (alt on the driver's side) and non-A/C (passenger side). Also, as I noted before, Toro brackets are different from RWD brackets.

By the way, the 350 and 455 brackets are exactly the same. Were required due to the deck height differences, the brackets have two sets of holes.

No. It's actually called the Chassis Service Manual and it should be the first thing you buy for the car. By the way, I'm pretty sure the diagram is also in the assembly manual that you refer to, however all of those are reprints and some are more complete than others. Look for the section called "Engine Dress".

I can't say this is the best place, but I got a replica chassis service manual off ebay for 70 bucks. I also had a friend donate a Fisher body manual (original) for nothing. The replica manual is just that (now with some dirty pages, especially in the carburetor section), but thats why I bought it. There may be other places to find one. Only problem I have with mine is the electrical schematic, it is a black and white copy, and I cannot read it.
I thought at one time there was a link for service manuals on this sites main page?
