Toro/Delta 88 column interchange question

I've got a floor shift tilt, tele column I removed from a 1968 Delta Custom that a guy wants to buy for his 1968 Toronado. His car is missing the column so he can't measure it and see if they're the same. Do any of you guys know if this is the same column or not If not, would one from a 1967 Toro interchange with his 1968? Thanks! John

The part number for a '68 Delta Custom floor shift tilt/tele column is 7802272. The part number for a '68 Toro floor shift tilt/tele column is 7803902. So something is obviously different. Will it bolt in and work? Don't know for certain, but I am inclined to say no. Does the potential buyer have a floor shift Toro? If he doesn't, how does he propose that he is going to change gears with no shifter on the column. The part number for a '67 Toro tilt/tele column is 8698660. This is a column shift. There were no floor shift '67 Toros. The '68 Toro tilt/tele column shift part number is 7802600. So there is a difference there, too. But since the part number for '67 & '68 non tilt/tele, column shift columns are the same (5698351 - which is a different number from non tilt/tele, column shift full size cars) I would say that most likely any '67 or '68 Toro column would interchange with each other, unless a floor shift is involved on the '68.

Did you follow that?????

Paul

Thanks Paul, I appreciate the info. believe it or not I did follow the path of information with the numbers! Yes, he must be planning to use a floor shift with this column, but the purchase price and shipping is a lot if it's not going to work for him. I'll share the details with him. John
