Speaker thingy

85 TORO, BROUGHAM W/307. i am replacing the front speakers. Driver's side has little button (about the size of a dime). Opaque center part with two wires running from it. It attaches to the grill. What is this for?

There's isn't one on the passenger side speaker? My first though is that it's the tweeter. It's not unlikely that an '85 anything would have come with dual speakers.

Does your Toro have auto climate control or auto headlights? If so then it may be the sun sensor (CDS cell) for that system.

It's the light sensor for Twilight Sentinel. Turns headlights on automatically at dusk if car is running. Make sure you get it oriented correctly when you put the speaker grill back in.
