Fluid capacity for Turbo 425

I filled the converter before install. Then tonight fired the motor. Added 8 quarts. Not even on the stick! How much more? Opinions?

The capacity with a complete overhaul is listed as 10.5 quarts. To remove just the pan is listed as 5.0 quarts.
1. How much did you put in the converter?
2. Did you move the gear selector through all of the gears with the motor running before checking the fluid level?

Well, I ended up putting in about 12 quarts. The trans works now. Hooray. Almost took it for a ride to get gas but the headlights wouldn't come up. Vacuum issue for sure. I'll get it sorted out tomorrow I hope. Thanks for your input.
