Technical Topics

Hello everyone. I'm sticking my toe in the editorial waters here. Hopefully more info will follow. For starters I'd like to start posting some of the recurring answers here, such as the notorious motor mounts, how to find the VIN derivative on the block, etc. Eventually this may get rolled into an updated Tech Section, but for now this is the easiest way to do it.

Stay tuned.

Hey Joe I really think this is a great idea because if you look through the help needed posts there are quite a few for the same info and with the addition of this technical topics post everyone can get their questions answered with out having to look all over in the different forums.
Great thought.
Doug.

Thats great Joe. May I suggest some other topics for fodder? Basically dealing with Identification and interchange. Casting numbers and date codes come to mind.

The olds coummunity FAQ is not clear in some areas...

Starters:heavyduty vs. standard and mini/aftermarket units.

Water pumps and the different styles as well as pully selection. Chris Witt comes to mind here....

Dip sticks and tubes.

Brakes/Suspension/Diffs.......

These are a few topics that seem to pop up often like you said, motor mounts and block vin's. Myself and others have gathered photos...if it helps. Thank you.
