Painted numbers on frame...

Well I finally started to take things apart. I dropped the gas tank (NO build sheet) but when I took the bumper off I noticed a painted number on the back part of the frame. Does any one know what this number was used for or what it means? My car is a 1968 442 Sports Coupe

I'll have to check the parts book, but I suspect that is just the P/N for the frame.

that would be wild if it lasted all those years.and it looks like your a fellow new yorker either that car came from another state or was well cared for.

I went and looked at your link that is interesting.I can't say there is that many all origional cars out there anymore. They knew how to build cars and the exaust systems lasted better than the thin junk out there now (that is unless you say put a stainless system on).

Thanks, delmontcrusier.

It has always been a NY car. It has been in a garage most of it's life. As far as I know it has only seen rain twice in 34 years. Not bad for a 41 year old car.

I turned the picture so everyone doesn't have to stand on there head.

The hand written looks like 6-15-68-1

Kurt (Wmachine) came up with this piece of information. "Thanks Kurt"

Upside Down. 3908663

I'd clean it up a *little* around the number and clearcoat it to preserve it!
