Intake swap
Hi I have a 71 cutlass with a 350 and a 2bbl. I'm looking for a little more kick when i step on the pedal and want to get a 4bbl with the performer rpm manifold. If i was to make this switch what problems should i expect to encounter such as hood clearance or parts that just don't fit anymore? Or is this a straight forward pull the old one off and drop the new one on deal?

Should fit under the hood without clearance issues. You will need a throttle cable and spring and an air cleaner for the 4bbl and probably some different vacuum accessories.

I think you will also have to convert to a manual choke.

Why? Just use an electric choke. You can get an aftermarket version from Borg Warner that has a temp sensor that is held under one of the intake manifold bolts.
As for the specific intake selection, is the motor otherwise stock? What do you plan to do with it? If you mainly are using the car for low RPM street driving with a stock exhaust, the Performer (as opposed to the RPM) might be a better choice for torque and economy.

i plan on putting some work in the motor if i can ever get the money together. my goal is over 400 hp. right now its stock with a flowmaster 2.5inch exhaust and flowtech headers. i figure if i need to replace things i might as well take a step up instead of buying stuff i dont plan on keeping. the current 2bbl has to go because it needs a rebuild and backfires when i accelerate. as for the intake the stock is fine but i believe the performer rpm is lighter and does add something over the stock.
