Future Timing chain replacement parts to order

I am researching my soon to be Olds 307, after reading about the cam gear being a weak point and the mileage on my 307 around the time they fail I want to change it before I get too much debris in my oil.

I want to use a Clover set, it appears to be all steel? I am not planning on doing much more than headers as far as performance goes for now, its not going to be a weekend cruiser.

Parts to be ordered:
ngk plugs/denso wires/delco cap/delco rotor
timing cover gasket set FEL-PRO Part # TCS45270
clover timing gear set Part # C3006K
Oil Pan Gasket FEL-PRO Part # OS30471C
2 wix oil filters Part # 51045(I normally get Napa gold but they are $.02 extra to ship with this order on rock auto and only $4.19 vs 6.03)
Valve Cover Gasket FEL-PRO Part # VS50259R
water pump GATES Part # 43100
thermostat 195 GATES Part # 33009S
thermostat gasket GATES Part # 33631
lower hose GATES Part # 21143
upper hose GATES Part # C1205
radiator cap STANT Part # 10231

This puts me at $117.68 at rock auto. I kinda want to paint my 307 oldsmobile gold but I'm sure you guys will not approve or recommend the blue :P

I also have to add $17 for 5qts penzoil 10w30.

**Added
NATIONAL Part # 88199 crank seal repair sleeve-Thanks joe_padavano

Wix and NAPA Gold filters are the same.

The only other thing you should get is a harmonic balancer repair sleeve. This is a thin stainless sleeve that fits over the balancer hub and covers any groove that might have been worn in the balancer from the old seal.

I would throw a double roller chain in there. It fits with no mods to the timing cover, fuel pump arm, block etc etc. I know it's a performance upgrade, but it is still cheap insurance in any car.

You could also go with a 180* thermostat instead. a cooler running engine is a happy one

I use ACDelco filters, but Wix is fine also. The quality of both is pretty much the same. As long as the ACDelco filter in made in the USA. There should be too many "e-core" filters left

in 1983, the correct engine color is flat black. If you paint it gold, people are going to think you have a 64-72 Olds motor in there. Then you get "the question." it makes my skin crawl : "You have a 'gold rocket' in there?" Ugh so annoying
