Fuel pump replacement
We need to replace the fuel pump on the 330 in Josh's '66 F85. Are there any special tricks to this, or is it a simple remove and replace? My father-in-law said there may be some pin that needs special attention - needs to be held up out of the way or something? On my Jeep, all it needed was to make sure the lever got above the lobe that drives it - you just tip the end of the lever up as you place the pump - maybe this is more involved?
Thanks, Jim |

Your father in law is thinking about a chevy that has a rod that connects the pump to the eccentric(is that called an eccentric too?)
Anyway, the olds unit has a lever...attached. It's straight forward. Just remove it and then replace. The lever rides off the bottom of a little round barrel that's bolted on the front of the cam.(located right in the middle of the big sprocket) Note: the fuel pump lever is not shown here, but would enter from the left side ![]() |
