squeaky belt

I have a bad case of squeaky belt,I only have the alt belt and the main belt that also goes over the ps. At idle its really quiet cant hear a thing but the purrr of the motor. its only when i give it gas does this happen and sometime it will go away after driving for a few mins the rest of the time it squeaks all the time.

Now it a pully was bad wouldnt it squeak all the time, and not just under load? I cllok and every thing lines up the belts look to be in good shape.

Be sure the belts aren't glazed, but I'll bet the PS belt needs to be tightened. Most people don't realize that the Olds PS pump has two bolts and a nut that need to be loosened to properly adjust the belt.

If you suspect that your alternator isn't charging properly you can always have it checked at your local auto parts store for free.
