Heads
I've got a 77 350 and i would like to change the heads to the earlier small chamber heads. Which heads do i want, were do i find them, and how much should i expect to spend? I don't want aftermarket heads. Thanks MIKE

Where are you located???
#4,5,6,7,7a's would do what you ask, but they will have to be drilled to 17/32nd's for your larger 1/2 inch head bolt holes. Figure bare castings at $100. Shipping could be anywhere from $50-$100 depending where you live. Drilling the bolt holes $25-$50 depending on the shop. Get a valve job, no matter what. I have 3 sets of 7a heads that I am willing to part with, but I'd rather do local pickup on these. Jim in Phx. |

The "#" will be to the left side of the #1 spark plug (or #8 plug).
#4's will have casting #394497 above the center exhaust outlets #5's all -397742 above the center exhaust outlets #6's all-403859 " " #7's all-409147 " " Check with core suppliers in your area. Most machine shops know them, but will NOT give that information (or their phone #'s) out to customers. Anything from a core supplier MUST be fully rebuilt. That means they will need EVERYTHING.
