Choke problems?

I have an Edelbrock 650 cfm carb on my olds 350 and I'm having lots of problems with my choke. It started out as the throttle kind of sticking when i let off the gas pedal. So I thought it was something to do with the linkage being dirty or something so i sprayed some carb cleaner on it and worked in around a little bit and it worked fine for about a day. Then the choke wouldn't kick off at all, I had to open the hood and do it by hand. Then a few days after that the choke didn't work at all. After a couple of days it started all over again. If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate the help.

How tough is your throttle return spring? You might want to put a more stout one on there.
