My question is elementary, what is the tool to remove an original oil drain plug from the oil pan, a Torx T-70 or a hexagonal size say 5/8" alan wrench socket? I am having trouble getting the old one off so I can replace the plug with a new one...Thanks for your input JM

If you don't have the correct 8-point bit to remove it, use a 1/2" drive ratchet. Do not use an extension; all that will do is spin in the recess and round it out. Use the ratchet with no extension or socket.

So that means just using the 1/2" wratchet head only. I will try that. I took it to a quick lube place and they thought that it was slightly rounded. If that is the case and the 1/2" wratchet spins then I will have to try a larger size. Otherwise can they drill a hole in it and back it out with a reverse thread tap? I also noticed that they tried sticking a thick rag with the torx bit they were using a T-70 and it didn't grab enough to break it loose. The special 8 point tool is probably hard to come by today. I appreciate your input.THX JM
