Another head Question , Ok here goes I have a 69 350 with # 5 heads I just purchased today from craigslist what is either a 350 0r a 403 with a big bore quad carb 2 barrel and egr and with h.e.I and with # 5 A heads I hered a lot of talk about the # 5 heads but have not seen anything on the #5A anyone with info please help!!! I'm going to clean up and get engine #s.

The 5A heads were used on the 307, so I think you got hosed. In the future, check the FAQ at 442.com for casting numbers first:

By the way, what's "...a big bore quad carb 2 barrel..."?

well that realy stinks paid $ 60.00 dollars. The carb looks like a rochester quadrajet carburator 4 barrel but only a two barrel.

joe are thier any parts that will fit the olds 350 if so what?

That carb is one version of the DualJet. Early ones came with the full Qjet body but the secondary air valve holes blanked off. Later ones had the casting truncated to just the primaries. Usually used on a 260, so I'm wondering what you have exactly. Is the intake an aluminum A4? If so, that's a popular swap onto earlier motors.

Other external parts should swap. The crank is interchangable for a 350 crank, though it would need to be rebalanced for the heavier pistons.

yes it is a dualjet carb the same size as a Qjet the intake is a Y and the heads 5A. Will this intake work well on a 350 or are the ports wrong and if I can use a 4 barrel carb with it A Qjet or a holley?

Are you sure it's a "Y" intake? That would designate a big block manifold. Can you find the actual casting number?

Hi. First, look at the top front of the engine, behind the water pump. Next to the oil pressure switch. Let us know the number that is casted into the block. Should be six didgets, a space, then a letter, or number. That will say what block you have. Also, if you have #5 heads, they are from a 68-69 350. The #5a heads are from a 80-84 307, but have the same cc's as the #5. Look for the casting # on the heads between the valve cover and the exhaust manifold, should be 3317 for the #5a. Let us know what you find.
