exhaust trumpets on 2 1/2 in pipe

i will be adding new exhaust to my Rallye 350 this year and was told that i should go with 2 1/2 in pipe. i found this place that has tips for this http://www.pysales.com/iw_products.m...4%?company=ppe but wondering if i really need to go 2 1/2 inch. my engine is not nothing crazy but does run much better than stock. the trumpets on the car now look good but are reproduction. has anyone tried to modify there trumpets to fit 2 1/2 pipe or am i just going to have to pay for new trumpets. the pipe on my car now is 2 inch from manifold back, i did not know this till last summer. i had it put on in 99 and they were to put 2 1/4 head pipe on it. i never checked it. it runs good now but wonder how much better it would be, if any, with bigger exhaust. i am aslo getting rid of the glasspacks and going with dynomax super turbos, are they ok?

I vote Dynomax! I run the super Hemi Turbo's (Long case). Quiet while cruising, and loud when you want them to be.

x2 on the Dynomax. Nice rumble but not too loud like Flowmaster etc. Put in a crossover and it will also quiet down some more and (so I am told) pick up some HP. I'm pretty happy with my setup.

can the exhaust shop just cut and weld in a crossover or do you have to get one that is manufactured? if the shop can do it where do you add it at.

Get the system----the mandrel bends in the Pypes, etc systems maintain the ID of the pipe throughout all the bends unlike a lot of pipes/systems you would have bent/formed at a local shop.

Look at it this way....you will have a great system that will be plenty for anything else you decide to do to the motor later on.

Tips---You can "adapt" stock tips any number of ways but in the end they'll probably look "adapted". Some people slip them inside the 2-1/2 pipes, etc and it looks odd. You can take stock tips and cut/weld, etc so they fit OVER the system but then you have to get them rechromed so there go more $$ out the door.

Pypes tips are stainless steel so weld all you wish without having to worry about the finish.

If you decide to go to the bigger system, they do make tips to fit the larger size. On ebay, there is a listing for 2 1/2 tips: Pypes EVT34 Olds 442 Trumpet Exhaust Tips Stainless (#250595597883)

I also vote for Dynomax mufflers.
