left or right heads
hay
are the left and right heads of a 394 the same? ![]() |

Right and left heads on a 394 will interchange, but they won't be drilled properly to accept the power steering and alternator/ac brackets. The head with the engine number stamped on it belongs on the passenger side.

ok,thanks.
now i will look for the numbers on the heads. is there also a difference in low and high compression heads on this 394ci because i have a high compression engine(red)whith low compression heads(blue) |

I believe high and low are the same, without looking in my parts book. I think 61 and 62 are the same, except for '61 Starfire which apparently had larger valves. I need to look in the book for interchangability between '59 and '63. Compression difference was in the gaskets and pistons.
