hi folks, just trying to get some feed back on my idea of putting a 455 in my 72 cutlass convert it now has the 350 in it and i'am thinking of a engine swap,my questions are these, availability of the 455,and will it fit without to much shoehorning,I could just by a crate motor but thats not original,or beef up the 350 already thier, but I have loved the 455 since I was a kid in my uncles trans am,that was many moons ago,so what do ya think....crazy or sane......

Go for it. It will pretty much drop right in!

It will definatley fit without any problems, in fact, they put them in in the factory, so it better fit. Might need to upgrade the tranny and the rear end to handle all the extra torque though.

But, if you currently have the original motor, and you want to keep it a #'s matching car, you can get a boat load of power out of a rocket 350. If it doesn't bother you, go for the 455. It's what I am planning to do.
