What is a 1972 running 350 rocket with 47,000 original miles worth
I was just curious what this is worth? Runs excellent, 350 rocket with 47,000 original miles. Was 2bbl and now has cast iron with quadrajet 4bbl.. 2bbl carb and intake included also. Still in car so a buyer can hear it. I found a 455 I want and may sell my small block

Value and selling ideas
Plumb in an oil pressure gauge and shoot a video with it running and show the oil pressure. Also do a compression check on a 8 cylinders. These two pieces of info will give the buyer confidence.
I'd say you get $350 to $1000 for it depending on who comes calling.

I'll go along with that, but I'd say that running and drivable will probably get you more than $350, but the fact that it's a low compression motor will probably keep the value below $600.
I'm sure that others will disagree in one way or another, but, of course, the only way to know is to see what you can get for it in the end.

Thanks guys, I'll get a vid, the compression and oil later this week, I plan on leaving it in the car till it sells so anyone interested can hear and see it run in person, in all honesty I would let it go in the $600 range, I think for $300-$350 I would keep it on a stand in the basement. I wasn't sure what to start at, least now I have an idea. Thanks again

Sounds like a fair starting point to me.
... Remember, a lot of this is supply and demand, and this isn't an item that's easy to ship, so the end price is likely to hinge on the amount of interest within 100 miles of you.

I understand, I was just looking on Craigslist around my area, there isn't much on there for decent stuff, 1 disassembled, machined ready to assemble with parts for $3000. A few higher mile smog 350's for $350 each and 1 rebuilt 68 350 for $2495. I'll list it later this week and see what happens

And, of course, as you are no doubt aware (especially if you've sold stuff before), those are all asking prices - the actual selling prices, if they sell at all, may be much less.

Oh yea I know, the machined 350 and the rebuilt have been listed over and over and over again since January so I'm guessing they are pretty firm on the prices and there isn't much interest at that price apparently, the others have only been on a few days. I usually hit up Craigslist every night before bed to see what's out there for parts and crap I think I might need

Location also plays a factor. It'd be interested around the $500 mark, but shipping would ruin any sort of deal.
It's all about finding someone within reasonable driving distance to get it.
I would take video's of it running, take photo's etc and post it. Save the video's for everything.
Once it's out of the car and sitting, the value might go down, because people have to assume it's been stored inside and everything else. You might even find a buyer who will help you pull it, if they want it.

...look the "X" mark on the valve cover, a factory marking?....and the color of the valve color, the factory gold paint..neat to see a low miles engine...

If you area, if they sell for that, take the money and run. I picked up a great running 76 350 for $120. Guy had 68 350:that needed rebuilt, could not get $200. Your motor probably needs a timing chain, as the early 70's ones like to come apart and end up in your oil pump pick up.
