Do you mean Threads that have been locked? I locked the top two on this forum because they are basically announcements and don't really need any more discussion. As to locked threads in other forums, there aren't too many. They were most likely locked to maintain control and etiquette. If a moderator or administrator thinks it is better to lock a thread then they do so. It doesn't happen too often though, we don't have many disputes/arguments here at CO, some disagreements yes, but they remain civil.
Now if you are asking about forums being closed to newbies until their fifth post and second day, that is to control spammers, and it works very well.

X2 If you're a newbie
The last one I remember getting locked was where some unfortunate political issues were raised, discussed and cussed. It is againist the rules also in the Club House.

I'm having the same problems with the forums...
I've been getting the same response, saying I'm not yet approved, even though it's been over a week.

Its not just about the time you have been waiting, but you have to have at least 5 posts for that to go away and have full access. Just post a few more times in the newbie section, describe youself, your car,why your here etc and you will be full access in no time! Its a way to keep spammers and trolls out of the forums your so eager to read and respond to

The padlocks are on the sections that host sub-forums. You can post in the sub-forums that is relevant to your topic.

Experiencing the same locks, but it is because of the 5 post rule, I suppose. I see several topics I could assist on, but have to wait my time, and make my posts to get clearance.

You should be good to go now Doug. Sorry for the inconvenience, but the spammers were out of control. We had to do something and this five post rule seems to have done it.
