Difference Between a Member,Registered User,and a Guest
Please explain the difference between a member, registered user, and a guest. Are certain credentials or skills required to become a member??

Thank you. If members are the same as registered users, and registered users are the same as members, why is there a distinction with certain registered users being identified as members, and why are most registered users identified as registered users and not members. There must be a subtle difference or registered users would be identified as members. It seems inconsistent. Please explain. Thank you, Twilightblue 28A

Let's ignore guests for the purpose of this post. It make no sense that members and registered guests are classified the same. Please explain why certain registered users are identified as "members" under their names while other registered users are identified as registered users? There must be a difference: credentials, knowledge, experience?? Otherwise, the classification of members and/or registered users is inconsistent and we are either members or registered users, and therefore equal, but not both. This subject probably was never asked. Please explain. Thank you, Twilightblue 28A

Could be the number of posts, or I suspect join date I assume your referring to the line under the username. That can be edited by the user but as a default says registered user for newer members idk but it may say member for older join dates or maybe it was user edited.

Yes, you're thinking too hard. Just go to the control panel and change it to whatever you want.
Probably the default string in the site software was changed at some point, and people registered before or after that date have slightly different titles, if they retain the default setting.

I agree. I might add that some sites out there (a lot of them) require you to "earn" your title by "likes" or up votes or what ever stupid stipulations they put on them.
Maybe we should have a test section. A lot of folks ask questions...like this. A place where people can learn to post attachments or pictures or titles. There, we have a place people can practice doing these things with out..embarrassment and maybe some coaching on how to do it.
Just a thought. I think it would be a good thing.

That's what I was thinking when I posted about simply changing the profile... If you don't like what it says, or feel there is an inconsistency, change it to what will satisfy you as a member/registered user...

A "member" has at least 12,343 posts. Until then, he is merely a "registered user." By contrast, a "guest" is someone you invited over for dinner and who won't take the hint that it's now time to leave.

Then there was the Junior Member and some charter members prior to 2009. It does not make a difference whether your a member, junior member or registered user. You all have the same permissions. Guests/bots do not.
Sooo, if I can change it , I can become a secret double gold member?
