piston rings

Ok so I file fitted my rings. went by the specs total seal recommended. I got 4.090 set and filed them down . All my oil rings where above the minimum which is fine . On that subject how big is too big ? im assuming since total seal only specified the minimum as long as its not excessive its fine. My concern is the oil expander it fits in the bore but falls right through ? My only though to this is that with heat it expands and that's how it functions. Any thoughts on this ?

Well if you're not going to post what they told you then maybe you should've deleted the thread? Just a thought.
The expander does just that, holds or expands the oil ring rails against the wall. The rails touch the wall, never the expander.

Well total seal told me what you just said. I didn't see it as a huge help to even mention what they said . Not too many people here file their own rings its my first time so I'm being overly cautious .
