rocker arm and studs
Ok so im pricing out some parts to wrap up the 355 I have been working on for some time. Im Looking at running full roller rockers whats some good alternatives to the Harland sharps. I see proform , scorpion , comp cams , lunati offer options for olds. I really liked the comp cams 17044-16 .
I also need to know what part number for the 7/16 studs I need to run for the olds.
I also need to know what valve springs to use for a cam with 520/544 and 235/244 . Do you think 10 to 1 compression is good for this cam or 10.25 to 1 would be better ? My combo as is will be @ 10.25 to 1 but I would like to be on the safer side to run pump gas 93. I can always get 93 sometimes 92 91 so just throwing caution to the wind.
Thanks in advance guys.

You should be fine with that cam and 10.25:1.
I'll be able to tell you more about the ProComp rockers by weeks end. I ordered a set to see what they are like and will be putting them on a bracket motor for a season of durability testing.
I've really heard nothing bad about the other rockers you mentioned. Personally I have only installed one set of Crane which havnt really been put to the test yet. All the rest, for about 30yrs., have been Harland Sharp with excellent results.

I know harland sharps are the best . But like always I try to buy with a budget in mind. I don't have an all out race car and there is a big price diffrence between the comps and harlands. I did get a line on a set of harland sharps but they have damage to the area around the pushrod cup the cups look fine.

Ok here are some pics of the Harland sharps I found . Are these useable yet or too far gone. A total of 5 are damaged as such also near the roller. Im not trying to be a cheap bastard but if these work I can get them a decent price I just don't know what can be re used and not as far as rockers go.
In this pic you can see all 5 .
here is 2 up close.

I haven't bought them. I saw them on an ad and I was curious as to it would be safe to buy these and run them or they are too sketchy too run. I really like the comps for the price and I have never had issues with comp cams products. Im really looking forward to what smitty has to say about the procomps.

[QUOTE=coppercutlass;711080]Comp cams 17044-16. Those are fine for budget rocker.
I also need to know what part number for the 7/16 studs I need to run for the Olds.
SBC, 1.75 stud length on the top side. That way if you use the shorter poly locks you can still fit the stock valve covers on it.
I also need to know what valve springs to use for a cam with 520/544 and 235/244.[QUOTE]
What's the lobe sep on the cam?

Thanks for the reply Copper a few other Questions just to make sure i understand everything so the bottom of the the stud needs to be 5/16 and the top needs to be 7/16 and the total length needs to be 1.75 and its made for small block Chevy is the brand comp cams as well or a another? I been on summit and put the size thought the filters and have not found anything so I must be missing something.

That's because I think we where looking them up for drilled for 7/16 I think or 3/8 not sure on that. When I was looking them up I knew what it was but I guess I lost the links to them. But I think there is possible a mopar stud that is 5\16 base unsure about the top portion width wise and length . I'm sure if you contact cutlassefi he can set you up.
this is what my search lead me to I just punched in all the specs into the summit page as if I where looking up generic studs I wend by base thread effective legth and nut thread size . This was just a quick search so I could be wrong on the link .
