non SFI trans

I was looking at performance transmission online, specifically a Hughes Performance 4L80E on Summit. Summit has it listed as a non SFI approved transmission. I'm pretty sure you can't race with certain helmets if they aren't SFI approved, would that also apply for a transmission? Or are there mods you can do to the trans that would make it SFI approved?

At a certain et you can't use this transmission for racing in nhra. Now for sportsman/beginner class 12 flat ET you are good. You are good in pro i think to 10's after that you might have a problem. Your best bet is go on line and read Nhra rules. I hope this helps.
