Yet another FAQ-SNAFU from copy-paste-forget to change the #

your casting # is a #4 manifold.
417754 is the casting # of a #5 casting with a straight-down exit. The FAQ should be changed to say that.

Your 45 degree down and back exit can be either a #4 or #3 casting. The donut type (I think) were used on the small block big cars- so, Delta 88's, Jetstar 88, etc.

Yes, I believe so. I have seen both types, not sure if the donut type was always BB or always Big Car or what. Visual indicators... of what? Donut use?

The non-donut type has a tapered outlet on the manifold. The donut type has a squared off shoulder end with a nicely machined circular recess into which the donut fits.

Pretty sure you "can" use either type
1) common no-donut manifold or
2) donut type with a donut, which forms the tapered mate to the pipe's tapered flange.

I know that this part number is used on more than 1 style of this manifold. Please see the picture that I posted on ClassicOlds. I have attached it. I need the style that is machined at the rear for a doughnut gasket to be installed. I will attach a better close-up Eric

sorry what i have is not what you want , someone put a big block 68 T 398708 RH; big block manifold on.

eric, is there some reason you cannot just use the more common manifold with the taper cast in?

I feel I have a slight leak at the connection. I think the pipe will conform to a doughnut gasket much better and completely seal. The exhaust shops are using flanges cut out of flat plate steel and you can not put the smoke behind them to seal like the old stamped style flanges.
