Smile Idle Load Compensator

Help! I need to find this part. I am looking for a Idle Load Compensator. I have a 1982 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight with the 307 engine. I took my car in (to the Oldsmobile dealership), because my car was idling rough. I was told that my Idle Load Compensator was bad. This is the silver part that is on the driver's side of the carburetor. They did not have the part or know where to get it. If anyone knows where I could find this part, I would truly appreciate it. Thanks, in advance.

well...go back to that dealer and buy one from them...simply because if you buy one from a fellow member..with shipping you will spend the same on an old one as you would on a new one.

Dealer no longer stock item. I have tried all within a 250 mile radius of Richmond, VA. Anyone know of a dealer that stocks this item?

Did you check the websites that specialize in rebuilding Rochester carbs? Also, there are one or two guys here that do this on the side. They may have some info for you.

i have a vacuum operated one off my 307 from my beater 1981 Olds 98.. if you need it let me kno...btw..

a bad idle compensator will not give you a rough idle... it raises the engine rpm at idle with the AC activated.

Unhappy

I am also looking for this part for my 85 Riviera with the Olds 307. If you find one let me know. Makes you wonder, there were so many Olds 307's in Buick, Olds, Cadi, Pont & Chev cars from 1980 to 1990 why isn't someone reproducing these? My dealership said they used to replace them all the time -- they also said they threw away a box full of them after they were discontinued
