Hey guys. I am in search of a set of Rally gauges for my 1970 Cutlass. I know the Parts Place sells after market ones but every tells me they are not accurate. Any input of them would be appreciated.

Interesting, have not hear that. I bought a set of gauges for my Delta 88 last year, 30 bucks and they would great. Strange how a set of gauges from the parts place for 600 dollars would have issues. Things that make you say "Hummmm."

I have several customers with factory gauges; '69 442, a couple of '69 H/Os, a '70 Rallye 350 and all have complained about the inaccuracy of their factory set-ups, even after sending them out to be "re-furbished".
Maybe they fixed it for later model years.

If they are as "accurate" as the factory ones, then they would be an exact factory reproduction.

My car came with an aftermkt tick tock tach that was mounted but wasn't working. Previous owner said it failed after about a year. Car was in the garage and sat for a while. Start the car & starts & runs fine. Few weeks later battery is 100% dead as a door nail. Mechanic goes through it & ends up aftermarket tach developed a crazy drain.

The factory tach is way off. The faster you go the more it is out.


The factory gauges will suffice but why trust an expensive engine to 40 plus year old gauges that have questionable accuracy. Just put aftermarket gauges in the car under the dash in a re-po 8 track housing & call it good.

Already has a 8 track player under dash. I really want to keep it stock in appearance. From reading these posts, seems risking buying an 47 year old used set will more than likely be inaccurate and best to stick with the new ones at The Parts Place.
