Big Ebay auction of 66 OAI setup

Good Lord, and I thought the 67 version was steep.

Don't know what the reserve is, but this 1967 OAI top piece of the housing caught my eye. Is the lower piece unique to this housing?

Well, to be technical, it's not an auction, as he's only got a $12,500 Buy-it-now posted.

That being said... Holy &*#@!

I'm pretty much speechless on this one.
And, of course, this implies that if you install this one option on your 3x2 4-4-2, its value will increase more than $12,500.

The best part is that the guy has the gonads to charge an extra $32.70 for shipping.
Not $32.00. Not $30.00. Not $40.00. $32.70.

The $32.70 for shipping is a figure that E-Bay figures . Based on your zip code.
When I brought it up the shipping was only $11.68. Probably because I live closer.
I agree, " a fool and his money" applies here.

2 blue, that's a complete 67 OAI air cleaner "shroud" with top and bottom.

Yes, the 67s are unique as are the 66s. The 66s were tri carb, the 67s were quadrajet.
That 67 cleaner should go for at least 4k, I would wager.

I got mine used, it has an extra little hole, and needs chroming. I prefer the 67 over the 66
in many things, including the single 4 barrel over the tri-carbs, even though
it lacks the wow factor. But, the chrome air cleaners on those two years I prefer over
all others. It's a shame I won't use my late 67 auto huge snorkel-less cleaner when I
recreate this track pack on mine, but I still think I'll get it rechromed.

Eric, agreed on it being a big ebay SALE.

I have no desire for 68's and 69's, and although I admire the 70-72 with their W-25's
and their castings and carbs and such, sometimes the 66-67's have to step and say
we're worth money too.

I first brought my 66 W30 #24 to the OCA Nationals in 1977. I have a photo and letter from Helen Earley from her visit with me and the car. Otherwise, there was little interest in the old body style, tiny 400 cubic inch engine, cheap bench interior, plain red paint with no chrome strips. A few decades later, many people recognize the unique character of these cars, and their performance. The 66 and 67 air cleaner shrouds are very distinctive, always were relatively expensive, and serve as a tribute to Olds for going the extra distance with these special cars.
