NOS 70 Parts

to educate me can you explain what a Flame Arrestor filter is. I have one on my W30 but I thought it was to stop rocks etc. from getting into the air cleaner. I really never knew for sure what it is for.

Maybe someone will chime in on it's true value inside the heat pipe. The mesh is very fine and seems to be linked more to diminishing the possibility of a accidental flame from the carb than filtering debris. I could be wrong though.

Far as I know, it's true on an Olds it's for debris because the pipe is open. The flame arrestor function was more for like Chevy air cleaners (the same part) where it was located closer to the carb. They are common on boats, so if there is a backfire, and fumes in the bilge, they don't explode.
