My original '70 window crank buttons are the same color. Is this a natural color change over 40+ years, did they come in that tannish color original or is it way too much nicotine?

I don't dare to lick at mine to test.

clear originally , but over time from what I have been told tarnish in color

I wondered that too I have some that are clear and some that are yellowed to an even uniform yellow.

I ll give a free bump too the originals beat the after market cranks hands down
