1972 Cutlass Hood For Sale $125

I have for sale an original 1972 Cutlass hood and steering wheel. The hood is all Steele and will fit 1971 & 1972 Cutlass S, Supreme, or 442. This hood is straight and true. I am only selling it because I purchase an OAI hood for my convertible. This hood will also fit hardtop models.

Hood $125 or best offer.

Hood is for sale in the Atlanta, GA area.

Just an FYI, this hood is specifically for a 1972 with air conditioning because there are no cowl vents. You're right - it will fit 71/72. Because it doesn't have the 'faux louvers' it's technically not correct for the Cutlass S models.

To expand on your sales options: The hood will fit any of the 71/72 Olds A body models - Cutlass (2 door and 4 door), Cutlass S, Cutlass Supreme (2 door and 4 door), Vista Cruiser and Cutlass Cruiser.

Good luck with your sale!

Alan is the man, knows his Oldsmobiles. I got one listed good luck figuring that cowl vent out. Real quick while were on hoods I have a new fiberglass going on don't I need the underneath frame from the old one. If not why ? How's the new hood protected from engine heat ?

1. There are several styles of glass hoods for the 71/72. Some are bolt ons with no under structure. Some are repro look alike all glass with structural glass panels underneath (they need a lightweight spring though) and there's the Thornton hood.

2. Do you need additional structure? No. Removing the steel structure of the OEM all steel hood is a lot of work. One of our members did that with his repro glasstek and it cost him the same amount in materials and labor as if he had just bought the Thornton hood. Don't waste your money with that project. Most of the repro hoods that have some form of additional glass sub structure are around 600-800.00. They should be just fine as far as structure goes. If they develop a flaw that can be traced back to manufacture, I'm sure the seller will work with you to fix the issue.

3. The hood is not protected from engine heat at all. Even the factory OAI hoods didn't have noise/heat absorbing pads. Fact is there was also steel hood cars that came without the pads installed. It was a delete option.

Hope that answers your questions. Now back to the OP's goal of selling his hood. Sorry for the sidetrack Grant
