3.91 Gearset for Type O 12 bolt

I have a new, never opened Richmond 3.91:1 gear set that was bought for a '68 442 with the 12 bolt cover, (10 bolt 8 1/2 ring gear). Also have a new, never opened installation/bearing kit for same. Fits '68-'70 (some say '67 also). As far as I know these are not being made any more and may not ever be again. $350.00 for all including USPS Parcel Post to the lower 48. Are these the thick gears for the three-series carriers?

If they are Richmond gears they have to be for the 3.08 - 3.23 carrier.

They will fit the 588 and 672 carriers by milling .100" off the backside. I have done this numerous times without any issues. You are basicly making them like the original GM's when you do this. The Richmonds have deeper bolt holes,so there is not the issues of bottoming the bolts out.

Milling .100"

Brian, I found and purchased last year a NIB set of 3.42:1 Richmond Gears. Can I assume that the same .100" will have to be milled from the back side of my 3.42 ring gear to fit on a 588 carrier?

Rich
