question - did all 70W30 have the 404847 X on the water pump? Since this is a Sept pump, where there w30 made in September?

Does the water pump work?

all w30's had the x pump. Of course the pump works. It's like brand new.

Any 70 Cutlass/442 with HD cooling had the X-pump. The pumps had to be cast before the engines and cars were built. If it was cast in September it probably showed up on a November-built car.

You still have the "F" heads (ported by Mondello)? I see these are raced heads. Are these heads streetable or just for racing? What part of Northern NJ are you from?
